Touch screen ghost effect

It is essential to verify if the problem is inherent with the LCD screen of the laptop PC, video card (GPU) or video settings on your PC. A straightforward way to identify this is to connect the laptop to PC an external monitor or TV.

Possible underlying cause: Display connector might be loose or LCD might be damage.

What type of Damage is there to the screen?

  • Is it a blank screen, flashing, or fizzy?
  • Does the Screen have any physical damage?

Determine if  it’s a screen problem or a video graphics problem.

  • Plug the laptop into an external monitor and see if it works.
  • If it does then its a physical component and should contact dell support for a replacement.
  • If not it’s possible to need to update the GPU card
  • Run Hardware Diagnostic on the LCD screen

Running a diagnostic’s check will help determine if it’s an inherent problem with the screen or the video card.

Step. 2 disconnect any peripheral devices connected to laptop and connect the AC adapter to the PC.

Step. 3 Make sure that the LCD screen is clean

Step. 4 Press and hold the D key and power on the PC to enter LCD built-in self test (BIST) mode.

If it is  physical screen damage you can always contact dell support for a replacement part.

Unable to use touch pad

Possible underlying cause: Surface area might be covered with fluid or touch pad might be facing its age.

When you purchase laptop it does not come with the mouse. Uses heavily depend on the touch pad. When the touch pad unexpectedly stops working sometimes restarting is the easiest solution. Replacing a touch pad is not an easy task. It is better to contact Dell support and have them assist you.

Over Heating

Possible underlying cause: close all the unnecessary programs to reduce the laptops resource. Avoid putting it on couch or the bed, instead put it on wooden material.

A computer overheats when that fan is not working. Sometimes the computer will not turn on if there is too much heat emitted. This could due to a malfunction of a fan. One way to see if there is too much heat is to touch the laptop. However, sometimes there will be no indication of overheating. One thing that could be done is shut off the laptop and allow a few minutes of cool off. If the computer does turn on, then the issue was not an overheating issue. Keep in mind not to leave the laptop out in the sun or in the car for a long period of time. If the laptop continues to shut down as it’s turned on, then continue on to read this section to replace the fan.

Battery Failure

Possible underlying cause: lithium battery might be running out of the charge cycle. Make sure the power adapter itself is working before getting a new battery.

Unable to keep the charge and unexpected shutdown.

Not enough memory in Hard Disk Drive

Possible underlying cause: Remove all the cached/temped file. Remove unnecessary programs that you are no longer need.

Every computer comes with Hard Disk Drive. But when you purchase branded laptop they tend to pre-install many of the unnecessary adware. Most of the software that are pre-installed is not even needed for a computer to function properly. If anything it takes up space on the HDD which is not even up the industry standard. To upgrade to the storage follow this guide.
