Vertical Lines on my Samsung LN46c630 LCD tv

Couple of days ago, out of no where vertical lines appeared on my Samsung LN46C630K1FXZA 46 inch LCD TV. I did some research and it seems i may need to change the Tcon Board. I went on youtube and it seems that youtuber said by changing or replacing the ic chip, will fix most of the lines issues on a samsung board.

I went onto shopjimmy.com. On their website, it states that changing the Tcon Board will not fix horizontal lines.

So, since my is a vertical line issue, i'm hoping it will solve my problem. But i also read on here, someone else changed their Tcon board and it didn't do anything to fix their issue. I'm hoping i don't have to change out other boards that are on the back of the LCD tv.

Here are some pics of the vertical lines. Thank you.

Either this forum is dead or folks doesn't know the answer to my question

I changed out the main board. It didn't fix the problem. It seems it could be the LCD screen.

I looked around for a price and for $900, I'm better off buying a new TV.

Unless there could be cheaper options. After changing out the Tcon and the main board, I don't know what else I could change out that won't cost me an arm and a leg.

Cable connection seems to be good. I checked the connection and there wasn't and loose fitting cables.

Plus I would have to assume if the LVDS cable was bad, I wouldn't get any picture.

It seems it's the screen that has gone bad. And price to replace the screen or the 1 I found, they were asking for almost $900.

Seriously, why even bother for paying for that much.

I guess they are hoping a dummy will buy a screen

It's the screen. So basically the tv was replaced.

Yes, i could not get mine fixed too, although replacing the Tcon board did not solve the issue. Might have to buy a new TV later on, currently the TV is watchable although there are some lines. Thx

@browncoates

This could be a bad LVDS cable as well as bad connection. Like it was mentioned before, you want to check the cables. Also, check what your TV menu looks like and if it shows the same stripes. This could be a T-con board issue.

You may eventually have to remove the back of your TV. Post some pictures of all of your boards and wiring with your question. Use this guide 기존 질문에 이미지 추가하기 for that. It will allow us to see what you see.

I pushed the menu button on my remote and I see the same lines.

I already took the back panel off and the cable connection seems to be good.

I'll check it again, cause I bought a Tcon board. I'm hoping this will fix my TV problem.

As for the potential bad LVDS cables. Is it the LVDS cable connection to the main board or the power board?

Are these cables are to replace? Or most of all can I buy these cables for my Samsung?

Thank you and the replies.

@browncoates it is usually the cable ends that get frayed. Double check the connectors. Undo the cables and then reseat those. Depending on which cables you need, I suggest that you do an online search for those.

I still have this TV. LN46C630K1F The lines will pop when the TV is started or during use. Tapping lightly on the TV at the Samsung logo will make the lines go away. Sometimes they are gone for the rest of the time the TV is on, sometimes you have to tap again.

I have had this problem with my TV, I tried a factory reset on the TV the lines went away for about an 1hr then they returned so you should try that and see what happens. If that doesn't work try and see if there are any cords loose on your TV or your cable box. If that doesn't work then you might need to get a new TV. Hope this helps. Best Of Luck!!!!

Lines like this can be caused by poor connections on the cable that goes to the panel. A reset won't usually "fix" this. It is possible that there is a problem with the logic board, but lets start with the simple things first.

Open up the back and re-seat all of the cables. Make sure that they are all connected properly and securely.

Update this with the results and we'll proceed based upon what any new symptoms occur. Hopefully the re-seat will resolve the problem.

I added a newer Tcon board. And it didn't fix the problem.

While I was changing out the Tcon board, I made sure any of the LVDS cables wernt loose.

So what's next? Change out the main board?

Were the lines moving or always the same?

This has vertical and horizontal lines as well as i can see from the pictures. Usually horizontal lines means the LCD is bad, i read on some forums. However, i have same like issue on a Samsung UN55D6400. Trying to replace the t con board, the TV has only vertical lines and picture is bright and crisp. So will try the new board in and see.
