If CPU got a damage, also data aren't recuperable?

I would know if CPU got a damage, for example with charge adapter in the car that isn’t original (of Apple), also data aren’t recuperable? Because I readed that the data on NAND memory are crypted by CPU, is really so? If CPU got a damage, is impossible recover data with all ways?

Thank you in advance for reply.

Patrizio has already asked similar questions regarding the same phone 7 times now and has also been emailing me privately over the last week.

Patrizio, pretty much every micro-solderer and experienced tech who frequents this forum has answered one or another of your questions on this iPhone SE. Overall, the answers are pretty clear and consistent, you most likely have an issue with the charge circuit.

You will not be able to troubleshoot this kind of problem by emails and questions on a forum. It must be looked at by an experienced micro-solderer. Only with a proper diagnostic will you know what can and cannot be done. Then you will learn if it is recoverable and you can decide if you want to have it fixed or not.

I believe it is time for you to make a decision and either have the phone/board looked at or leave it be. We are here to help the DIY community, we can't do that if we are all answering the same, repeated questions.

@refectio archived the other questions that deal with the same phone/issues.

Now questions about this issue ended. It's the time to see what happen and repair it.

@refectio Thanks for clarification! Too bad the “merge as duplicate” function isn’t working...

I've been privately contacted too, quite reasonable considering I seem to be the closest. What seemed to be not convincing Patrizio was my concern about the fact that if surge reached the screen as he stated, it might not be a very simple repair. This is what I wrote him, translation courtesy of Google translate since it was in IT language:

I find it strange that the display has been damaged in addition to the logic board since secondary circuits are used for the LCD; if the damage has arrived up to there the card could have suffered very important damage and also be difficult to recover. If data recovery is a priority, try to send me the iPhone to give it a look, get an idea of the damage and try to quantify them, otherwise, under the purely economic profile I do not think it's worth it.

If CPU is confirmed to be dead, data recovery is not possible. However you need to be sure CPU is dead or not before concluding anything.

As fake as it can be.

@pikachu95

you can only recover the data if you get that phone to turn on and working as it should, even just a short while to back it up. You have not told us what your phone is doing and what the symptoms are. It sounds like you are having issues with it either not coming on or not charging. It is possible that you have damaged the charging IC. It is also entirely possible that this is some other problem. You will have to let us know what the symptoms are. Start by using an USB ammeter to see how many amps it pulls while connected to a good charger. A new battery might even get your phone to turn long enough to back it up and recover your data.

I tried with a new battery but the iPhone doesn't work. I did some tests and the iPhone has these problems: motherboard doesn't work and also display doesn't work. Yes, also display because I put it to a new iPhone that 100% works and this display doesn't work also with this new iPhone that has same model. So: motherboard got a damage and also display. If also display got a damage (because it doesn't work also on a new iPhone with same model) what happened also to CPU?

@pikachu95 you've tried a new display on the broken phone as well? the charging IC (Tigris or Tristar)would not be related to a failed display (since the display does not work in another phone)

It will be hard to determine what happened and what needs to be repaired. Have you checked with an ammeter.? What else have you checked? Do you have the tools to troubleshoot it further and to perform board level repairs? If not I suggest you consider sending it to somebody who can at least diagnose the board for you.

I only saw that motherboard is broke and also display because I put these components in a new iPhone of same models. I can send motherboard to assistence, but I need to pay shipment cost, so I would be sure if this motherboard is repairable or not because also his display doesn't work.

You can just have the phone’s Tristar IC replaced and all will be well again. Ask a local microsolderer.

So a charge adapter in the car can't damage CPU?

@pikachu95 It's highly unlikely. I would think you damaged the charging IC, not the CPU.

And why with a new battery it doesn't work? I tried also his display on a new iPhone of same model and it doesn't work. So also display got a damage. A person said to me "if also display got a damage and it doesn't work also with a new phone, the damage is more serious and maybe motherboard isn't recuperable". Really?
