Why does my device no longer have sound?

Just verifying that you removed the main battery from the laptop before working on the repair?

Have you checked if there is any audio available from the headphone socket?

Have you checked in Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers to make sure that the sound controller is OK, i.e. no red cross or yellow exclamation mark next to the sound controller hardware entry? To get to Device Manager in Win 10, right click on the Windows Start button on the left side of the Taskbar and then click on the Device Manager link.

Have you checked in Control panel > Sound > Playback to ensure that the speakers have been selected? To get to Control Panel in Win 10, type Control Panel in the search box on the desktop and then click on the Control Panel app option that appears.
