Why is my laptop booting into black screen

Hi,

With the laptop turned on, try shining a torch (flashlight) at an angle close to the screen and check if you can see any images on the screen.

They will be very faint if they are there so trying this in a darkened room may help to see them.

If you can see them then there is a backlight problem with the screen. This could be caused by a faulty backlight power supply on the motherboard, a loose or faulty video cable between the motherboard and the screen or a problem with the screen.

If you can't detect any images try connecting an external monitor to the laptop and check if there is a display showing on it. Don't forget to press the Fn + F5 keys (both together) to switch between the laptop screen and the external monitor.

If there is no display on the external monitor either then there is a motherboard problem.
