Building an iMac without a display
I plan to use my 2017 iMac as a display, following the instructions in this YouTube video.
That will leave me with everything besides the monitor outside of the iMac case.
My question is this: has anyone put these components together in an alternate form to get a working iMac without a monitor. Will the iMac logic board even boot up without a LCD panel attached?
Alternately, we could leave all the logic in the iMac case, but then we would need to mount the iMac display panel in an alternate case. Has anyone got an example of this we could use as a guide?
Thanks for any pointers!

What is your goal here? To have a working display to use on a regular Windows PC or to create a headless Mac system reusing the iMac logic board.
Sadly, the iMac is designed in such away that you really can’t use it in a PC case. It’s designed to fin within the iMac case.

Both!
Plan is to use the screen in the original case with another Mac, but I have a good idea how to do that.
Goal is to _also_ re-house the power and logic in something else. I know it won’t fit in a PC case.
The questions are:
(A) will iMac logic board boot w/o a monitor? And
(B) has anyone successfully re-housed iMac hardware in a smaller enclosure of any sort?
