My hard drive is corrupted
When I connected a hard drive in my laptop my laptop performance is very slow. What can I do to fix it and recover my data?

What is your system and OS?
From your description the drive likely needs to be defragmented as over time the files get broken up across the drive platters making the drive work harder. There are tools which can fix this but before doing anything I strongly recommend backing up your stuff.

@gadgetsale let us know the exact make and model for your Hard Drive. I would suggest an external Hard Drive Enclosure to install this hard drive in. Then use a different computer to recover the files from your drive.

You’re wrong, that will allow people to peek in the data and their personal privacy.
Please, do NOT suggest that… professional cost money and risk. They can peek in the data and privacy of the customer depending on the services.
This is incorrect.
@cedricilamar If going to a pro has risks, doing it DIY has MORE risks, not to mention it usually costs more money if you want to invest in the tools just for one recovery.
@cedricilamar Well nobody can peek into your privacy when the data is destroyed. Do you want the data or not?

Defragment it, make sure you have the correct drivers, clean off connectors with compressed air. If nothing else works, wait three days and it will magically work. Happened randomly with one of my HDDs.
