Device Does Not Power On

The laptop is unresponsive, and makes no ticking or whirring sounds. The monitor is blank, and the status lights on the laptop do not light up.

Power Cord is Loose

Verify that the power cord for your laptop is securely connected to the power port of your laptop, the AC adapter, and a functioning electrical outlet on your wall.

Release Static Build Up

Static build up occurs when there is a small electrical charge trapped in the material of your laptop.

In order to release the trapped charge, unplug the device from any electrical outlets, and remove the power cord completely from your laptop. On your device, press and hold down the POWER button for 45 seconds to dispel any remaining electrical charge.

Power Cord is Damaged

Visually inspect the power cord and AC adapter for any signs of damage. The AC adapter on the power cord converts electrical current for your laptop, and protects it from electrical surges; if your laptop stopped working as soon as you plugged it in, the AC adapter might be damaged and in need of replacement.

One way to verify if your power cord or AC adapter is damaged is to borrow a functioning power cord and AC adapter from another Acer Aspire V15 laptop. Make sure that the power supply wattage of the power cord you are using to test does not exceed 135 W in order to avoid damaging your device.

If your device operates normally with the borrowed power cord, that means the problem lies somewhere within the original power cord and AC adapter.

Remove Battery

The battery in a laptop can sometimes interfere with the direct power source. You can test if this is a problem by removing the battery in the Acer Aspire V5-591G-75KE by following this guide, and leaving the battery out when you reassemble the device. To test whether the battery was causing the problem, simply plug the laptop to an electrical outlet and power it on.

If removing the battery solved your problem, you can reinstall the battery and observe if the problem persists. If your laptop does not turn on again, that indicates the battery is faulty and needs to be replaced with a new one.

Battery Does Not Charge

The Acer Aspire V5-591G-75KE is functioning fine when plugged in, but will not operate if it is unplugged.

Adjust Battery

The battery in your laptop could have shifted or disconnected from the motherboard. A clunking sound when you shift your laptop is a strong indicator that a large component in your laptop is loose. Loose hardware can damage sensitive components inside your laptop, and should be addressed immediately. To adjust the battery in your laptop, please refer to this guide.

Battery failure

If you readjusted the battery, but the problem persists, that could indicate that the battery is permanently damaged or faulty. Unfortunately, there is no way to fix a laptop battery. Refer to this guide to replace the faulty battery. When purchasing a replacement battery, make sure it is compatible with the Acer Aspire V5-591G-75KE.

Screen is Blank or Unresponsive

The screen is unresponsive if the laptop plays operating system sounds, such as the boot up tune or pings from keyboard presses, but no image is displayed.

Adjust Display Brightness

The display brightness of your screen could be turned all the way down, making your screen really dark. You can increase the brightness of your display by pressing and holding the FN key and tappping the ▶ key at the same time. To decrease the brightness, press and hold the FN key and tap the ◀ key at the same time.

Restart Laptop

Press and hold down the POWER button for 5 seconds or until all whirring sounds stop. Press the POWER button again to restart the computer.

Reconnect Display

If your display turns on only sometimes, or if it only shows an image when the display is open at a narrow angle, that could be an indication that the connector between the display and the laptop is loose.

If you suspect this might be the cause of your problem, follow this guide, and inspect the display cable shown on Step 18 of the motherboard repair guide for the Acer Aspire V5-591G-75KE. If this connection is loose, simply push it down firmly until you hear a click, then reassemble your device and test the display.

Computer is Slow or Unresponsive

Computer performance is lower than expected, or momentarily freezes when attempting to load an application.

Adjust Power Savings Mode

Laptops, especially when unplugged, will use a low power profile that maximizes power savings at the cost of performance. Change the profile to a Balanced, or a High Performance profile with the following steps:

1. On the bottom right corner of your laptop, look for the icon that represents your battery status.

Insufficient Space in Hard Drive

Hard drives begin to run slower when stored data gets close to full capacity. You can free up space in your hard drive by deleting files you no longer need, and by uninstalling applications and programs you no longer have use for.

You can uninstall applications and programs in your laptop with the following steps:

1. On the Start Menu, RIGHT CLICK on any application or program you do not want. Select ‘’Uninstall’’. This will open the system dialogue ‘’Programs and Features’’.

Insufficient Resources

Running too many programs or background processes takes up Random Access Memory (RAM) and Central Processing Unit (CPU) cycles, leaving your other programs with less resources to use. Consider closing programs and processes that you do not need running.

Insufficient Memory

Certain programs require a significant amount of RAM. If your RAM usage hovers near 100% utilization under heavy load, then increasing the amount of RAM available may be beneficial to the system. You can follow this [GUIDE] in order to swap your the RAM in your laptop for an upgraded version.

Underperforming Hard Drive

Most laptops come equipped with 5400rpm mechanical Hard Drives (HDD). Solid State Drives (SSD) and Solid State Hybrid Drives (SSHD) have significantly higher read and write speeds, while 7200rpm HDDs provide a cheap modest upgrade at the cost of higher power usage. Replacing your hard drive with a higher performance one can lead to higher system performance.

Operating System Fails to Boot

If your laptop is stuck in the Acer logo screen, or in a perpetually loading screen, that means that the operating system is not booting up.

Remove External Storage

External storage devices such as Universal Serial Bus (USB) sticks, Secure Digital (SD) cards, or Portable Hard Drives might interfere with the boot up sequence of your laptop’s operating system. Verify that any such external storage is removed from your laptop, and then restart your computer by pressing and holding down the POWER button for 5 seconds, and pressing the POWER button once more to restart your laptop.

Operating System Repair

On occasion, the operating system in your laptop will become unresponsive. There should be an operating system repair tool built into your laptop, which you can access with the following steps:

  1. Hold down the POWER button for 5 seconds or until the computer completely shuts off. Press the POWER button again to turn the computer on.
  2. As soon as you see the operating system start to load, press and hold the POWER button until the computer shuts off.
  3. Repeat this process 2 or 3 times until you see the Preparing Automatic Repair screen.
  4. Let the computer boot to the Automatic Repair screen. Once it is loaded, click on Advanced Options, and then select Troubleshoot.
  5. Select Refresh your PC if you do not wish to erase data, or Reset your PC to erase all data and restore the system.
  6. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete recovery.

Update Windows 10 Drivers

If the System Repair Tool failed to resolve the Disk Boot Failure problem, boot the device in Safe Mode and update the drivers for the Acer Aspire V5-591G-75KE with the following steps:

Once it is loaded, click on Advanced Options, and then select Startup Settings.
  5. Within ‘’Startup Settings’’, click on the ‘’Restart’’. The laptop will restart and a new screen will appear.
  6. On the ‘’Startup Settings’’ screen you will see a list of options. On your keyboard, press the number 5 key to enter ‘’Safe mode with network access’’.
  7. Once the system finishes booting and you can see your desktop, open the Start Menu, and on the bottom left, look for a round gear-shaped button to access Settings.
  8. Select Update & Security, then click on ‘’Check for Updates’’.
