Hey there,
Water is not recommended for any electronic repair. iFixit does have a pretty nice guide for Cleaning the Ports on a Device, and I would highly recommend giving it a read.
Thank you

Mostly agree. In this case, cleaning the expansion ports on a Framework laptop, there is a simpler and safer approach.
Nit: Deionized or distilled water is often used for electronics repair. Definitely don't use tap water, though - due to various mineral impurities that are safe to drink (even good for your health) but not so safe to smear on electronics, it can accelerate corrosion and will leave behind sediment when it dries up. Also, electronics should be completely discharged before bringing them near water, and completely dried out before powering them on again. Drying them out properly can take hours, since water loves to hide in tiny nooks and crevices and under surface-mount components.
tl;dr There are some cases where water is appropriate to use when cleaning electronics, but there are *many* important precautions to take. It's often more trouble than it's worth.
