As my old high school principal always said, "A connected student is a better student." I believe that the same saying applies everywhere in life.
I always knew I wanted to be an engineer, and now I am finally starting to live out my dream. I am a current freshman at University of Massachusetts Dartmouth majoring in Biomedical Engineering. Ever since I was young, I loved finding solutions to problems and thinking outside of the box. That, combined with my passion for helping others, especially when it comes to the world of healthcare, has inspired me to pursue a career in the field of biomedical engineering.
I pride myself an active member of my community; from being an assistant teacher at my temple's Hebrew school to being a lifeguard at my local Boys and Girls Club, I have always loved helping people. Throughout my years of high school, I was a member of over ten clubs and organizations, many of which I held a leadership role in. As I continue my journey into college, I have already become an active member of the community of UMass Dartmouth through being a member of the Wind Ensemble, the Biomedical Engineering Society, Hillel, the Honors College, and working as an Admissions Ambassador. I hope to continue this trend and join many more organizations in my next four years.
Life is filled with obstacles, but it is our duty to overcome and grow from them. In this way, perseverance is one of the characteristic that I value the most, and it has helped me achieve great things so far. In the spring of 2024, I was awarded the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Founders' Scholarship — a complete full ride scholarship awarded to only two students each year. Through the rigorous application and interview process, I was able to showcase my drive and motivation for academic success, as well as the importance of being a good human. These are qualities that I strive to embrace everyday, and I truly believe they hold immense value inside and outside the classroom and workplace.
