Acer Aspire E5-571-58CG Troubleshooting

Keyboard is unresponsive or certain keys are not working.

Click the start menu at the bottom left of your screen, then click Settings. Click Ease of Access. Click keyboard. Check to see if the Filter Keys option is enabled. If enabled, turn off and test your keyboard to see if the problem has been fixed.

Click the following link to the Acer website for device support. Click Menu, then click Drivers and Manuals. Click the Driver tab and download the Serial IO Driver. Go to the start menu, search for Device Manager. Click on the application that shows up in the search results. Go Keyboards. Click on your keyboard, go to the Driver tab, and click Update Driver. Select the driver you downloaded earlier, then restart the computer.

Device becomes abnormally hot for no apparent reason.

Click the following link to the Acer website for device support. Click Menu, then click Drivers and Manuals. Click the Driver tab and download the Turbo Boost Driver (Broadwell). Run the installation program. During the installation, select the Repair option. Restart the device.

Laptop is all around slow and sluggish in performance.

Unwanted startup applications may be slowing down your system. Click the start menu at the bottom left of your screen. Search for system configuration and run the System Configuration application from the search results. Click on the startup tab and click Open task manager. From here you can right click on any application and disable it from opening every time you start your system.

Click the start menu at the bottom left of your screen and search for system. Run the System application from the search results. Click Advanced system settings on the left hand side of the screen. On Advanced tab, click on Settings... underneath Performance. From here, you can choose which options you wish to keep or disable. The more options you disable, the less strain that will be placed on your system. Once you've selected all of the options you want to disable, click OK.

Laptop battery will drain abnormally fast and hold little to no charge.

Shut down the laptop, plug in the power cord, and wait until the charging LED indicates that the laptop has a full charge. Once this is done, start up the laptop. Go to the search bar at the bottom left of your screen and type Edit power plan. Click on the application from your search. At the bottom of the window, click Change advanced power settings. From here, scroll down to the Battery dropdown menu. Under Critical battery action, make sure On battery: is set to Hibernate, and Plugged in: is set to Do Nothing. Under Critical batter level, make sure On battery: and Plugged in: are both set to 5%. Once all settings have been updated, close all applications and remove the power cord from the laptop. Wait for the laptop battery to drain and wait a few hours. After waiting, plug the power cord back. The battery should now be fully calibrated.

The battery will not hold a charge or not power on at all.

Click the following link to the Acer website for device support. Click Menu, then click Drivers and Manuals. Click the BIOS/Firmware tab and download the BIOS. Load the BIOS onto a blank USB drive. Turn off your laptop. Insert the USB containing the BIOS into the laptop. Hold down the FN and Esc at the same time and turn on the laptop. Wit until the power button starts flashing before letting go of the keys. Allow the computer to update the BIOS for 5 minutes. Once this is done, charge the computer fully and it should be working properly.

Power down the laptop, remove the battery, and unplug the power cord. Hold down the power button for 2 minutes to drain all remaining charge. Release the button, install the battery, and power up the computer. The laptop should now recognize the battery and begin charging normally.

Touchpad is fully unresponsive.

Hold down the FN key and press F7, or whichever function key with the touchpad icon. If the touchpad has been disabled, this should enable the touchpad.

Click the following link to the Acer website for device support. Click Menu, then click Drivers and Manuals. Click the Driver tab and download the Touchpad Driver. Go to the start menu, search for Device Manager. Click on the application that shows up in the search results. Go Mice and other pointing devices. Click on your touchpad, go to the Driver tab, and click Update Driver. Select the driver you downloaded earlier, then restart the computer.
